Are you a tech-savvy problem-solver who enjoys helping people? Akins PC Repair is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team in a role that combines bench repairs and customer service.
LOCATION & HOURS
100% In-Person (Belton, MO). This is not a remote position. 25-40 hrs/wk. We offer flexibility between Part-Time and Full-Time schedules based on ticket volume and your availability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Hardware maintenance: Install, repair, and replace hardware components like screens, motherboards, and hard drives using hand and power tools.
• Software support: Install, update, and configure operating systems (Windows/macOS/Linux) and software. Uninstall outdated programs and ensure all systems are running the latest versions.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with performance, network connectivity, and general computer failures.
• Virus and security: Identify and eliminate viruses and other malware. Implement security measures to protect against future threats and data breaches.
• Client communication: Guide users through troubleshooting steps, inform them of major problems, and provide technical assistance via phone, email, or in-person.
• System setup: Prepare and set up computers and networks for new users, including software, hardware, and data migrations.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed notes on repair tickets and inventory records.
THE HYBRID ROLE
Note: In this context, "Hybrid" means you split your time between the Repair Bench and the Front Counter.
• As a growing local business, all team members assist with front-of-house duties.
• You will regularly greet customers, check in devices, process retail transactions, and answer phone calls.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Technical skills: Proficiency in diagnosing hardware and software problems, knowledge of operating systems, and understanding of computer components.
• Experience: 1 year of hands-on hardware diagnostic and repair experience preferred.
• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs (moving desktop towers and equipment between the bench and pickup areas).
• Problem-solving: Ability to analyze issues, find solutions, and apply them efficiently.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Attention to detail: Ability to follow procedures and ensure tasks are completed correctly.
• Dependability: A responsible and trustworthy approach to the job.
